Irina joined mediatEUr in September 2011 as Assistant Project Coordinator for the European Institute of Peace Project. Previously, Irina was Programme Coordinator for the Preventive Diplomacy Initiatives at the EastWest Institute, where she undertook research on the role of regional organisations in conflict prevention, in particular in Central America.

She contributed to the development of the Preventive Diplomacy Initiatives’ Parliamentarians Network for Conflict Prevention, and coordinated the development of a new stream of work on the role of women lawmakers in Afghanistan. Prior to that, Irina interned with the United Nations and the Council of Europe, where she researched human right issues and the Georgia-Russia 2008 crisis.

Irina holds one Masters degree in International Relations from the Free University Brussels, and another in European Studies from the Robert Schumann University in Strasbourg. As part of her studies, she researched the impact of small arms and light weapons on the human security of women in DRC, and the role of the EU in mainstreaming a gender perspective into their aid and development programs.
