David Bloomfield

Dr. Bloomfield has worked in conflict transformation and peacebuilding for 30 years as a trainer, practitioner, policy advisor, analyst, author, academic, consultant and NGO director. He has worked at the universities of Harvard (US), Ulster (Northern Ireland) and Bradford (UK). From 2001-2004, he was Director of the Conflict Management Programme at the intergovernmental organisation International IDEA in Stockholm, and from 2004-2007, he was director of the Berghof Conflict Research Centre in Berlin.
From 2007-2011 he was CEO at the Glencree Centre, Ireland’s leading peacebuilding NGO. He recently moved to a part-time Senior Advisor role at Glencree, and continues to work independently in the international context. He has published widely on conflict issues, including the widely used IDEA publication, Reconciliation after Violent Conflict: A Handbook (IDEA, 2003).
