Bringing broader voices into the discussion on the European Institute of Peace is 'laudable and needed' says Michael Möller
24 January 2012
Michael Möller, former Executive Director of the Kofi Annan Foundation, has endorsed the Open Space event organised by mediatEUr on the creation of a European Institute of Peace. Mr Möller commented:
"I wish you the very best of success for the organisation of the open space event on the 27th of January aimed at hearing the broader voices of the peacebuilding and peacemaking community in Brussels. Your determined efforts to bring those voices into the discussion on the creation of a European Institute of Peace is laudable and needed. I know that efforts to involve larger groups in such undertakings are not always easy and I commend you for your initiative and look forward to the results!"
Michael Möller was Director for Political, Peacekeeping and Humanitarian Affairs in the Office of the Secretary-General from 2001 until 2006 and the UN Secretary General's Special Representative for Cyprus between 2006 and 2008 before becoming Executive Director of the Kofi Annan Foundation from 2008-2011. Mr Möller is a member of the informal Advisory Council to mediatEUr's project 'Towards Creating a Framework for a European Institute of Peace', funded by the Finnish and Swedish Ministries of Foreign Affairs.
