Story

For a number of years, Dr. Antje Herrberg, then Director of the Crisis Management Initiative, and Dr. Dietmar Reich, equity partner and director of the global law firm Beiten Burkhardt Brussels, discussed the numerous challenges in their respective fields of conflict resolution; and how promoting interest-based negotiation and mediation could contribute to tackling them.

They were since joined by a growing number of like-minded friends in an effort to increase the professional expertise in the fields of international ADR and peace mediation, in order to empower conflict resolution professionals in their work, and shape the way Europe responds to conflict.

In consequence, the European Forum for International Mediation and Dialogue, in short mediatEUr, was established as a forum that brings together and supports conflict resolution professionals, and helps advance the professional practice of international peace mediation.

mediatEUr was registered in Berlin on the 5th of February 2008. The association is not-for-profit.
